1. Preparation Works

  1. Check availability of latest architectural drawing on site indicating joints, level, offset, type, colour and size
  2. Ensure that the required tools and PPEs available at site for execution of stone works.
  3. Ensure that the thickness of kadappa stone min 20 mm and thickness of granite stone is min of 18-20 mm or as per arch. drawing and surface quality is good for acceptance and as per approved sample.
  4. Ensure water proofing work completed for drain outlets in Mother slab if any floors drains is provided.
  5. Ensure 100% completion of RCC or Blockwork for the location to be obtained from client.
  6. Ensure RL +1m marking from SFL has been transferred to the location from Lift Lobby
  7. Ensure vertical kadappa supports is fixed before flooring works.
  8. Check for clearance taken from client for electrical locations, kitchen geyser, water supply, RO point, gas line, sink drain out and exhaust.
  9. Check that the template sink of require dimension provided for respective counter tops by MEP team with signed for platform works contractor.
  10. Check that kadappa and granite stone used for counter shall be cut in to the required shape and size as per sink/ under counter wash basin template given. Granite stone polishing and moulding of edges of exact size should be done for sink/ under counter wash basin area before brought in to the work location.
  11. Check for presence of counter mounted tap if present then slot in the kadappa and granite should be made prior to installation.
  12. Check for presence of wall mounted tap if present then grooving should be made in the wall beyond the anchorage area of kadappa and granite.
  13. Check if Bull nosing / Chamfering is done as per specification/drawing at the edge of the stone.

2. Installation by fixing kadaapa stone support

  1. Check for groove cut marking on the wall surface for horizontal and vertical Kadappa Anchorage and where grove for bearing is not possible check whether MS angle (50 x 50 x 5 – 100 mm long) is adopted for support for the partition walls in RCC.
  2. Check whether additional care is taken if the water supply pipes are crossing the horizontal platform bearing location.
  3. Check whether wall surface is cut using a 4” angle grinder and chasing is done for min. 20mm or as mentioned in drawing for anchorage depth.
  4. Check the placing of the stone vertically in position, check for levels and place the supports at each max. 600mm C/C distance or as per approved drawings majorly for the kitchen platform works.
  5. Check for placing of vertical kadappa stones having both side finish majorly for the kitchen platform works.
  6. Check top level of all the stone supports using spirit level
  7. Check verticality of stone supports using spirit level.
  8. Check whether the approved granite as specified in BOQ/ Specification/ GFC drawing (Thickness and shade), is cut into required size, level and include line and right-angle.
  9. Check whether cutting of sink/under counter wash basins area at slab in required size from the GFC Drawing is done.
  10. Check the Installation of the horizontal kadappa support slab and check the spread of lean mortar mix of proportion 1:5 with minimum 20mm bearing or as explained above /drawings.
  11. Check the fixing of sink/under counter wash basins above horizontal Kadapa slab using cement paste or suitable adhesive and harness it in position.
  12. Check for laying of the granite slab on levelled surface of lean mortar (1:5) and cement slurry (3.5 Kg/m2) on proper level as per drawing and confirm level through inspection of FFL as per GFC drawings and RL +1m.
  13. Check for adjustment of the position of the granite slab by using rubber hammer as required.
  14. Check the fixing of facia slab at the side of the granite counter slab using approved adhesive/metal paste (araldite or approved equivalent) with coin / washer and groove mechanism at 1m center to center and provide supports from floor until dry enough to hold on itself.
  15. Check that facia for wash basin should not go above the wash basin counter granite top level.
  16. Check the fixing of the end partition vertical granite slab using approved adhesive (araldite or approved equivalent) majorly for the kitchen platform works.
  17. Check the top level of counter top using spirit level. Slope can be provided towards sink but it’s not a mandatory requirement, however check there is no reverse slope.
  18. Check that slot for gas pipe is made on adjacent wall surface at a height of approximately 25 mm from the granite top using flexible hoses prior to kitchen platform works.
  19. Check for cleaning of the counter tops using only granite & Quartz cleaner as per manufacturer specification.
  20. Check the application of granite sealer MYK laticrete L190 (natural stone protector) or equivalent to the counter tops; these will protect the stone & prevent any deep staining until handover.

3. Post Installation Inspection

  1. Check for polishing if required for joints is done for the granite stones using hand polishing machine.
  2. Check after completion of installation works the counter slabs shall be covered with bubble sheet covering.
  3. Check whether sink and under counter wash basin is protected using self-adhesive tapes and as per protection guidelines until handover.

4. Grouting

  1. Check for sealing of the joint between dado and counter with epoxy grout (Ardex Endura or equivalent), counter and facia patty with metal paste (M-seal or approved equivalent), counter and sink with all-weather proof silicone sealant (Dow corning 789/791 or equivalent ) to prevent leakage.
  2. Check for application of epoxy grout as per manufacture specifications in small batches over the stone surface.
  3. Check for forcing of the grout into the space between stones.
  4. Check for grout to cure for 72 hours and then clean off with a sponge and water.
