Procedure for Erecting Aluminium Sliding Windows

Pre Erecting Procedures:

  1. It shall be ensured that all civil works including plaster and tiling work is Especially jams finishing (if done in plaster) of windows should be over.
  2. Finished openings of windows shall be checked for perfect ness of right angles, straightness of all sides and checking their plain so that there is no gap between window frame and plastered surface. If these do not satisfy, the same shall get corrected from masons to satisfaction. It is mandatory to have sub frame either in aluminum or in natural stone. If sub frame in aluminum section, it should be anodized / choromotisation should be done and the section should be as specified.
  3. It shall be ensured that portion of window sill on the outer side of window frame shall have smooth finish with 5mm slope outside for draining of rainwater.

  6. If working platforms are to be used then the legs of platform shall be wrapped in soft cloth to protect the flooring surface from any damage.
  7. Necessary drawing from architect showing the provision of AC or exhaust fan (if any), size of the shutters, position of mosquito mesh shutter etc. shall be ensured.

 

During Erecting Procedures:

All materials including Anodized / Powder coated / pvdf coated Aluminum sections; Glass and other accessories shall be inspected as per guidelines of QA Department, prior to their further processing and fixing in position.

Frames:

  1. Window frame shall be perfectly square or rectangular as the case may be. The diagonal measurements shall not show any difference.
  2. Joining line of vertical and horizontal members shall be a fine hairline at 45ยบ.
  3. Window frames shall be erected in position and shall be fitted with screws at 300mm c/c for bottom members and 450mm c/c for vertical and top members or as specified on drawings. Two additional screws near lock one above and other below the lock should be provided to reduce the impact.
  4. Any portion of the track shall not show any defects or damage.
  5. Nos. of tracks shall be as required mentioned on drawing and it is to be as per the approved sample.
  6. Frame shall be fixed in perfect plumb. The position of frame in the jamb shall be as per drawing or as decided by The distance of the frame from the corner of the inside jamb shall be same at all places or as specified.
  7. Drain holes, minimum 2 nos. per shutter, shall be drilled through the bottom track for draining of rainwater. Holes through the bottom track shall be drilled in such a way so that accumulated rainwater from the innermost track also can be drained out easily and quickly. It is recommended to drill drain holes before anodizing / powder coating / pvdf coating.

 

Shutters:

  1. All shutters in a window must be of equal
  2. Shutter frame should be perfectly square or The diagonal measurements should not show difference.
  3. The vertical side of shutter should be in

  5. The surface should be without any scratches or damage, clean and
  6. The PVC / rubber gasket / EPDM gasket packing used for fixing of glass in the shutter should be tightly fitted and should be protruding out equally from the aluminum shutter section.
  7. Minimum two roller bearings should be provided per shutter. The type of bearing shall depend upon the weight and size of the shutter or as specified. Bottom member over sill of windows, shall have an internal slope for draining out water or as specified by Architect.

Post Erecting Procedures:

  1. Window-work when completed shall be adequately protected by using masking tape of adequate
  2. Gaps between window frames and plaster shall be sealed externally with approved silicon sealant of color matching with the anodizing / powder coating color / transparent color or as specified by Architect.
  3. Gaps shall be sealed internally with polymer based putty to avoid peeling off plaster due to impact of
  4. Window frame bottom should be thoroughly cleaned with help of vacuum cleaner before any checking is done so that no damage is caused to the tracks by movement of shutters.
