Curing of Concrete:

Curing of concrete is defined as providing adequate moisture, temperature, and time to allow the concrete, blockwork etc to achieve the desired properties for its intended use.

Curing is done for

  1. Preventing the loss of moisture from concrete hereby providing time for the hydration of cement to occur
  2. Preventing the development of high temperature gradients within the concrete

Duration of curing depends on the ingredients of concrete / weather conditions which shall be as per the table given below

Sequence of Curing For Slab

STEP 1 Slab concreting completed.

STEP 2 – As soon as concrete is dry enough and after hand palm impression is observed, light brooming to be done on slab top surface.

STEP 3 – Light sprinkling of water to be done at regular intervals, so that slab surface is kept moist, on the slab top surface until ponding watta is made.

STEP 4 – Ponding watta to be made on the same day within 5-6 hours, after slab concreting is competed i.e. after concrete is set .

STEP 5 – Next Jutex to be laid , followed by Light sprinkling of water over Jutex, to be done at regular intervals.

STEP 6 – Ponding to be done after final setting time of slab concrete , on same day .
